Open Access

Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic with its global effect, the American Research Foundation issued its Open Access Declaration, which calls for the free open access of research on a global scale. This call for unrestricted access to scientific and scholarly data and information facilitates better and faster research towards reaching a vaccine and disiminate public health measures essential to contain the spread of the virus.

The Open Access Declaration is based on the Budapest Open Access initiative and is intended to call upon all parties engaged in scientific and academic publication to provide free open access to all information for interested parties. We also call upon policy makers, research institutions, funding agencies, libraries and archiving organizations to provide innovative ways of support and funding for open access initiatives.

The Open Access Declaration focuses on the results of scientific research, metadata, source code, digital representations, datasets, white papers, news articles and multimedia items.

We understand that publishers and knowledge repositories bear financial burdens in the process of generating and preserving scientific and academic research and knowledge.  Therefore, we call upon funding organizations and agencies to work with open access publishers for the introduction of a new innovative, sustainable method to support publishing organizations and knowledge repositories.
